CONTORTURE®: Master Contortion Intensive


25 Year Coach and Professional Contortionist Jonathan Nosan returns to Indaba for an Intensive Training Weekend for You to Master Your Contortion.
His signature method of “BackBending From The Front” creates a new comfort and connection working in end ranges with students having performed with Cirque du Soleil, on Broadway, The Metropolitan Opera and far beyond.
Jonathan was a pioneer in online coaching since 2015 and his Download 5 Video Course of CONTORTURE® has been used by thousands— fueling contortion passions around the world.

The GUIDE Certification Course teaches his precise technique of taking students safely and smartly to their Goals and NOW YOU can experience training in person with Jonathan in studio at Indaba.

Sunday 5th November:

SESSION 3: 2-5 pm

  • Contortion Handstand/Forearm stand Variations:

  • 30 minute Break

Daily Schedule

Saturday 4th November

  • SESSION 1: 9am -11 am
    Classic CONTORTURE®: Welcome to the PleasureDome. Whether it’s your first foray or second decade of sucking in your gut and tucking your tailbone you will quickly feel the madcap genius of this way of working.
    Hips and Abs fire and fuel the Front Brains as the Back learns to relax and Go Along For the Ride…ALL ABOARD to Hanging Backbend & Variations.

  •  15 Minutes to Catch Your Breath…

  • 11:15am-1pm: INVERSIONS and finding the Connected Breath Placement for an (increased) Ease in Contorting. Beginning (or madly advanced…As You Like It) Contorted Inversions.

  • BREAK - 1pm - 2:30pm 

  • SESSION 2:2:30-4:30pm

    Continuing the Journey of NonTraditional Backbending, we dive deeper into

    Neck Articulation and Scapular Engagement to make new space to bend from.

    Light Weights will be used to further open hips and shoulders to strength the stretch

    and get us towards or into Catch Ankles, Mountain, Needle Scale and More….

Eligibility and Prerequisite

Saturday sessions:

  • Open to all levels, catering to practitioners with some prior experience (not suitable for beginners).

  • To ensure a successful and fulfilling experience, please note that for this intensive, it is expected that participants are comfortable with being on their hands and are able to hold a handstand using a wall for support, without relying heavily on it.

  • Due to the nature of the course, to ensure its successful fulfilment, we kindly request that there be a minimum of 10 bookings for the full weekend by 14th September. If the number is not reached by this date, the course will be cancelled.

    Sunday session: Tailored to meet the needs of more intermediate to advanced practitioners, providing a challenging and enriching experience. Practitioners are confortable in holding a handstand for more than 20 seconds in the middle of the room or using the wall as a light support.
